Intrauterine insemination (IUI)?
INTRAUTERINE INSEMINATION (IUI) is a type of artificial insemination, a procedure for treating infertility. During natural conception, sperm have to travel from vagina through the cervix, into the uterus, and up to the fallopian tubes. With IUI, sperms are washed & concentrated, and also placed directly into the uterus, which puts them closer to the egg. This process can increase the likelihood of pregnancy in certain couples who have had difficulty getting pregnant.
IUI can also be combined with ovarian stimulation medications such as HCG, Clomiphene citrate, FSH to prompt the ovaries to mature more than one egg, which usually increases chances of pregnancy. IUI can be done using Male partner's sperm or Donor sperm i.e.
